Last seen stamping down some serious soul on Liquid Flavours, the fittingly named Revival lets rip on Soul Deep with four velvet rollers that nod gracefully (but not over-nostalgically) at the Creative Source starting point. “Want You Back” is charged with big string bravado, “Freak Technique” creates a dreamy foundation for Glen E Ston’s lyrical flow while “So Raw” is all about the lullaby piano flurries and Marky-style sub punches below. Finally “Go Baby” closes on an early Logistics style vibe; splashy cymbals, slinky organs and a killer vocal texture. Beautiful.
